Not sure if “tiptoeing” is the word to describe how I felt; instead it was an awakening that encouraged me to ask Black friends deeper questions

That’s the ideal reaction I am sure. I have a tendency to overthink things and I was so sure that my questions and thoughts were clueless so I struggled to engage. I have joined a reading group to discuss DuBois and I hope I can engage. What resonates with me about Mounk’s book is the idea that liberalism requires thinking for yourself, even if your views are just that, your own limited views. Thanks for sharing. Not surprised you had such a mature reaction though.

“Mature” lol. This book and its daily challenges helped a TON: Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla Saad.
